Trissa

Kaliakra

Trissa is Cape Kaliakra, a narrow headland on the Black Sea whose cliffs fall away on three sides, a natural fortress since the days of the Thracian Terizi, whose name it recalls. The Greek geographer Strabo says that King Lysimachus kept his treasure there, and in 514, during the revolt of Vitalian against the emperor Anastasius, the rebels held the fortress and kept the emperor's general prisoner in it. The name Kaliakra, the fair cape, appears only in the fourteenth century.
