Tracias
? Kinikören · Kınık Höyük
Tracias is probably a garbled Dracias, the town that the geographer Ptolemy calls Dratai, in the district of Tyana; from the 10th century it reappears as the fortress of Drizion. It lay on a branch of the diagonal highway from Constantinople to Cilicia, and the map's figures point to the mound of Kınık Höyük near Altunhisar. Excavations there since 2006 have traced settlement from the Early Bronze Age into the Middle Ages: in the 9th and 8th centuries BC it was apparently an important centre of the late Hittite kingdom of Tuwana, and later a Hellenistic citadel. Finds from Roman times, however, have not yet been documented.
