Road station

Tolbiacum o. Belgica vicus

Billig (Euskirchen)

Between Cologne and Marcomagus the map marks a station but gives it no name, only a distance figure of ten. It was either Tolbiacum, today Zülpich, or the village of Belgica, today Billig near Euskirchen in Germany, for two roads ran side by side here towards Trier. At Billig a small camp for one or two cohorts has been found, with many coins of the fourth century. Either a copyist forgot the name, or it was already illegible in his model. The distances do not quite work either, so another station may have dropped out as well, or the six on to Cologne should read sixteen.
