Trigisamo

St. Pölten

Listen to the story

Trigisamo was a station on the road from Ovilava, the Roman Wels, to Vindobona, the Roman Vienna, where it crossed the river Traisen in Lower Austria. Older research placed it at St. Pölten, at the river crossing; others look for it at Traismauer, where the Traisen joins the Danube. Roman inscriptions have come to light at both. The map sets Trigisamo sixteen Roman miles, about twenty-four kilometres, from Namare and eight from Piro Torto.
