Road station

Turenonno

Tourdan

Turenonno is a garbled form of Turedonnum, a station on the road from Vienne towards Grenoble and the Alps, placed at Tourdan, east of Beaurepaire, where Roman remains and traces of the road survive. The list of places compiled in Ravenna writes Urdonno, and a Merovingian coin reading Uredo vico may belong here too. Older copies misread the name as Turecionico, which led earlier scholars to Ornacieux and other villages. The figure onward to Moirans is far too small; a whole station seems to have dropped out.
