Turenum

Trani

Listen to the story

Turenum is probably Trani, one of the important harbours of Apulia, which the list of places compiled in Ravenna calls Tirenum; the medieval geographer Guido of Pisa already notes that the town is now called Trane. Yet the stations and figures along this stretch of coast are particularly muddled and contradictory, so the match is not certain, and some have linked the name with a people Pliny calls the Tutini instead.
