Treblis

südl. von Ciciliano [Pleiades]

Listen to the story

Treblis is probably Trebula Suffenas, a small Sabine town near Ciciliano, whose people the Roman writer Pliny lists as the Trebulani surnamed Suffenates, and whose cool, damp climate the poet Martial remarked on. It was long taken for Trevi near the springs of the Anio, but the map's distances do not fit that, and the l in the name points to a Trebula instead. From here the road runs on over the hills to Carsioli.
