Tittoburgo
Dalj
Listen to the story
Tittoburgo is Teutoburgium, today Dalj on the Danube in Croatia, a Roman fort whose name a Roman register of routes spells Teutiburgium and the Greek geographer Ptolemy Teutoburgion. In late Roman times it held Dalmatian horsemen and a unit of picked cavalry, and Roman inscriptions have been found at Dalj. The map sets Tittoburgo thirteen Roman miles, about nineteen kilometres, from Ad Labores and sixteen from Cornacum.
