Paduando
Pozantı?
Paduando preserves a very old name, Paduwanda, known from cuneiform texts, and the map's spelling stays closer to it than later sources do. Its ruins lie just north of Pozantı, on the Roman road to the Cilician Gates, where a milestone of Caracalla from AD 217 counts fifteen miles to the pass. Small but strategic, the town briefly became the capital of a new province when Valens divided Cappadocia in 372, until Tyana replaced it. Basil of Caesarea complained in his letters about conditions there. The red road line is missing, perhaps replaced by the foot of the drawn Taurus mountains.
