Palacrinis

Cittareale [Pleiades]

Listen to the story

Palacrinis is Falacrinae, a small village on the Via Salaria at Cittareale, beyond Reate in the land of the Sabines, and it has one great claim to fame: the Roman biographer Suetonius records that the emperor Vespasian was born here. A Roman register of routes calls the place Falacrino. The map sets it sixteen Roman miles from Ad Martis and four from Foroecri.
