Listen to the story
Foroecri is a copyist's garble of Foro Decii, the market of Decius, a Sabine community on the Via Salaria near Bacugno, which the Roman writer Pliny lists as Forum Deci. Some editors read his text as Forum Caecilii instead, which would make it a foundation of Lucius Caecilius Metellus, consul in 142 BC. An inscription found here names the sacred groves of Vacuna, an old goddess of the Sabines.
