Foro Livi

Forlì

Listen to the story

Foro Livi, the market of Livius, is Forlì, perhaps founded by Gaius Livius Salinator, consul in 188 BC. According to the Gothic historian Jordanes, the Visigothic king Ataulf married the Roman princess Galla Placidia here, and later Theodoric ordered the landowners of the town to deliver timber. One of the silver cups of Vicarello, which list the stations of this road, even calls it Foro Iuli by mistake.
