Foro Fulvi

Villa del Foro

Foro Fvlvi is Forum Fulvii, the Market of Fulvius, at Villa del Foro near Alessandria in Piedmont, a town probably founded by the consul Fulvius Flaccus around 125 BC on an older native settlement. Pliny adds that it was also called Valentinum, and for that reason it was long placed at Valenza, but the road and the distances point instead to Villa del Foro. In late Roman times a unit of Sarmatian settlers was stationed here. The distance on to Dertona is missing from the map; it should be about thirteen Roman miles.
