Foro Cassi

S. Maria di Forcassi

Listen to the story

Foro Cassi, the market of Cassius, stood on the Via Cassia, the great road from Rome through inner Etruria, where the church of Santa Maria di Forcassi near Vetralla still carries the old name almost unchanged. Inscriptions have been found at the site. A Roman register of routes lists it as a stop on the road, and the list of places compiled in Ravenna spells it Foro Casi.
