Paliuris

Wadi et-Tmimi

Paliuris, the Paliouros of the Greek geographer Strabo and of Ptolemy, lay at Wadi et-Tmimi in Libya and belongs to Hellenistic and Roman times. The map puts it thirty-six Roman miles from Mandis and thirty-three from Meciris, though the first X of that second figure has almost faded away. The Roman register of routes writes the name Paniuros, and the Ravenna list has both Paliuris and Paliveris.
