Meciris

el Haua (MIller) · Zaviet el-Mrassas (Barrington)

Meciris, which the Roman register of routes calls Michera or Elene, was a station in Cyrenaica. The beginning of its name has faded on the parchment, and older copies show it best. The map counts thirty-three Roman miles from Paliuris, but the register gives twenty, and that figure is held to be the right one; on to Antipego the map has twenty-two. The site is sought at Zaviet el-Mrassas in Libya.
