Matucaio

Treibach bei Althofen (AK) · Stammersdorf (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Matucaio, the Roman Matucaium, was a road junction in Carinthia, probably at Treibach near Althofen, where Roman inscriptions have been found. Here two roads met before running on to Virunum, the capital of Noricum: one by way of Noreia, the other by way of Beliandrum in the Gurk valley. The map sets Matucaio thirteen Roman miles from each of them and fourteen from Virunum.
