Nemeseo

(between Catabathmus Maior and Antipyrgos) (Barrington)

Nemeseo was known to the geographer Ptolemy as Nemesion, and Guido's list sets it by the sea. On the map it is a plain name on the road through Cyrenaica, thirty-six Roman miles from Cardum and twenty-four from Catabathmo. The Roman register of routes has a stop called Ausufal very close by, perhaps the same place. It has been placed near Bir Semlah, though its exact site is unknown.
