Nepe

Nepi

Listen to the story

Nepe is Nepete, now Nepi, a hill town in southern Etruria. The historian Livy calls it, together with its neighbour Sutrium, one of the gateways of Etruria, and after Rome won it, it became a Latin colony early in the fourth century BC. The Greek geographer Strabo and the Roman writer Pliny both list it. The map sets it five Roman miles from Falerii and nine from Vacanae.
