Nesus

Sidi Barrani

Nesus is placed at Sidi Barrani on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, where the geographer Ptolemy recorded a harbour called Ainesisphyra, a site in use in Hellenistic and Roman times. The map gives just the name on the coast road, twenty-six Roman miles from Aratu and twenty-four from the next station, whose name is lost. An ancient Greek guide to the coast lists the place as Nesoi.
