Nezala

Al Quaryatayn

Nezala means a Bedouin settlement in Arabic, a name so common that on its own it hardly pins down a place; yet an inscription naming a man from Nezala was found at Al Qaryatayn in Syria, where the station is placed. Late Roman records put a unit of native cavalry here. The map counts twenty Roman miles from Danova and forty-four on to Heliaramia.
