Road station
Agabis
el-Ghegab (Barrington)
Agabis, the Akabis of the geographer Ptolemy, lay eighteen Roman miles, about twenty-seven kilometres, from Cyrene, at el-Ghegab in Libya. The Ravenna list names it several times, as Agabis and as Agabus. On the map the start of the next stretch is not marked, and the long figure thirty-six, for the road on to Mandis, runs on over the following stretch as well. Between the stations, by the sea, lay Naustathmus, a hundred stadia from Apollonia.
