Agatinno

St. Agatha di Militello

Listen to the story

Agatinno is Agathyrnum, on the north coast of Sicily near Capo d'Orlando or Sant'Agata di Militello, founded, so legend said, by Agathyrnus, a son of Aeolus, lord of the winds; its coins show him as a standing youth. In the war against Hannibal some four thousand exiles and freebooters gathered here, until the consul Laevinus shipped them off to Bruttium in 210 BC.
