Road station
Agnaviae
Zăvoi?
Agnaviae, which the Greek geographer Ptolemy calls Acmonia, was a station on the road from Tibiscum to Sarmizegetusa, the capital of Roman Dacia, before the road climbed through the pass known as the Iron Gate of Transylvania; it is placed near Zăvoi in Romania, by the river Bistra. The list of places compiled in Ravenna writes Augmonia. The map sets Agnaviae fourteen Roman miles from Tibiscum and eight from Pons Augusti.
