Agetincum

Sens

Agetincvm is Agedincum, today Sens in Burgundy, the chief town of the Senones, which Caesar already names in his war in Gaul. In 356 the young Caesar Julian took up winter quarters here, and the Alamanni besieged him in the town for thirty days. Its museum holds the remains of many Roman monuments, with dozens of inscriptions and reliefs. On the map several roads meet here, leading to Auxerre, to Orléans and on towards Troyes and Paris.
