Aggar

Henchir-Sidi-Amara or Henchir-el-Khima (Barrington) · Sidi Amara (Miller)

Aggar, today's Henchir Sidi Amara in the plain of Kairouan near Ousseltia, lay seven miles from Manange and fourteen from Aquas Regias. Two African towns bore this name, and one of them is the free town of the Aggaritani that Pliny lists. This one was a native community until 232, when it became a Roman municipium, and later a colony. An inscription dedicated to Caracalla has come from its forum.
