Uzappa

Ksour-Abd-el-Melek

Vzappa is Uzappa, at Ksour Abd el Melek in Tunisia, a town beside a river of the same name, six Roman miles after Autipsidam and six before Manange. Inscriptions found on the spot show it first as a native community and then as a Roman municipium, and a bishop of Uzappa is recorded at a church council in 255. The Byzantine chronicler Zonaras calls it Ausafa. The site seems to have been inhabited even before the Romans came, and a great many inscriptions from it are known.
