Usuerva

Lézignan?

Usuerva was the last halt before Narbonne on the road from Toulouse, the change of horses that the pilgrim from Bordeaux lists as Hosverbas. It probably lay where the road crossed the stream of the Jourre, near Lézignan; another view puts it west of Lézignan on the Orbieu. Some older copies misread the name as Usuerna, a form still found in reference works. The map gives sixteen to Narbonne and the pilgrim fifteen, a close match.
