Listen to the story
Vrbanis recalls Urbana, a colony Sulla founded on the Via Appia in the heart of the Falernian wine country, near Sant'Andrea del Pizzone. The Roman writer Pliny notes that it had recently been handed over to Capua, which happened under Nero in 57 AD. On the map it lies three Roman miles from its neighbours on either side, which is too short: four each, about six kilometres, would fit the real road.
