Road station

Seggo

Hr. Seggo (Miller) · (between Uzappa and Zama Regia) (Barrington)

Seggo is a Roman road station in Tunisia, on the road from Zama Regia, which lies twenty Roman miles back; the next station, Auula, follows after ten. Its site is not fixed. Older research believed the ancient name survived at a ruin called Henchir Seggo, about ten Roman miles east of Jama, where an inscription suggests Zama itself once stood, but this was disputed, and a modern atlas of the ancient world leaves Seggo unlocated, somewhere between Uzappa and Zama Regia.
