Road station
Securispa
Cherkovitsa
Securispa, called Securisca in the Roman register of routes, was a Danube station of Lower Moesia near today's Cherkovitsa, not far from Nikopol. A late Roman list of garrisons stations a unit of mounted shield-bearers there, and the Greek historian Procopius also knows the place. The map gives thirteen miles on to Dimo, where the register has twelve. A tiny detail: a small hole in the parchment was already there when the scribe wrote that figure, for the numerals are set around it.
