Road station

Segessera

Bar-sur-Aube

Listen to the story

Segessera was a rest station of the Lingones on the road from Langres to Reims, known only from the map, and is placed at Bar-sur-Aube, where Roman remains have been found; older suggestions were Suzannecourt and Arcen. The name is Celtic. The remains of the Roman road between Corbeil and Bar-sur-Aube were carefully surveyed by older research, which helped to fix the station. The map's figure to Langres, twenty-one, is probably too small; twenty-five would fit.
