Scyle may be the station found near Bova Marina, close to the southern tip of Calabria, where excavations have uncovered a settlement of the second to sixth centuries AD with a courtyard building that might have been the post station, and beside it an ancient synagogue. Or the map has shifted here the town of Scyllaeum, which belongs by the strait. Its distance from Locri, apparently sixty Roman miles, is in any case far too long.
