Scarpias
bei Molos ?
Scarpias is Scarpheia, a Locrian town near Molos in Greece, already named in Homer's list of ships as Scarphe. In the earthquake of 426 BC some seventeen hundred people died here. After the battle at Thermopylae in 191 BC the Romans pursued the army of Antiochus as far as Scarpheia, and in 146 BC Roman troops crushed the forces of the Achaean League nearby, as the Greek writer Pausanias tells. The map's final s seems borrowed from the Thermopylas just before it.
