Mose

Meuvy

Meuvy, in the Haute-Marne, is where the map's Mose lay, a village of the Lingones on the road from Langres to Toul. It takes its name from the Meuse, the Mosa, near whose upper course it stood, and Merovingian coins still call it Mosa vicus, the village on the Meuse. The life of Saint Eustasius mentions a villa called Mosa. On the map the figure from Langres is given, but the line of the road to Langres was never drawn. Older suggestions included Meuse-en-Bassigny and Vaucouleurs.
