Mons Imeus

Forca Caruso

Listen to the story

On the map the road over this pass ends in a little hook in empty space, although it should run on to the next station, Statulae; traces of the missing line can still be seen on the parchment. Mons Imeus, Mount Imeus, is the pass of Forca Caruso, well over a thousand metres high, where the Via Valeria climbs from the Fucine basin towards the Adriatic. Curiously, the map uses the same name far away in Asia, for the mountains now called the Hindu Kush.
