Minodum
Moudon
Minodvm is Minnodunum, today Moudon in the Swiss canton of Vaud, a village of the Helvetii on the road from the Great Saint Bernard to the Rhine. Its Celtic name may mean the fort of Minnos, or the fort of the goats. Two inscriptions give a glimpse of village life: a well-to-do member of the Augustales founded athletic games for the villagers, and at a temple of Jupiter meals were served to them. The map shortens the name, dropping a syllable.
