Mubsi

Henchir-Mest

Listen to the story

Mubsi is Musti, now Henchir Mest near Le Krib in Tunisia, a native town on the great road from Carthage to Sicca Veneria that passed from Punic rule to the Numidian king Masinissa before becoming a Roman municipium. Inscriptions name temples of Juno, Ceres, Fortuna and other deities, behind whom Punic gods partly hide, and remains of a fine triumphal arch survive. Nearby, by the river Bagradas, the Roman general Regulus was said to have killed a monstrous serpent.
