Naraggara

Sakiet Sidi Youssef (Barrington) · Bordj Sidi Yucef (Miller)

Listen to the story

Naraggara, now Sakiet Sidi Youssef on the border of Tunisia and Algeria, was a town of Libyan origin: a Libyan inscription and a text in Latin and Punic were found here, and its people worshipped the Berber god Iocolon beside Juno Caelestis. Older research placed here the famous meeting of Scipio and Hannibal before the battle of Zama, but later research looks for that Naraggara at another site.
