Ruspe

Rosfa (Barrington) · Ksur Siad (Miller)

Listen to the story

Ruspe, an old Phoenician colony on the coast of Roman Africa, is best remembered for its bishop Fulgentius, who came from Carthage; the account of his life calls Ruspe a noble town. Bishops of the place are recorded in 484, 534 and 649. Older research placed it at Ksur Siad in Tunisia, where ruins of the well-fortified town and traces of its old harbour remain. For the stretch from Aholla the map gives no distance figure at all.
