Rustici

(SE Gadiaufala) (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Rustici, Latin for 'the country folk', was a stop on the road from Cirta to Theveste, between Gadiaufala and Vatari in Numidia. The map counts four Roman miles from Magri and nine, about thirteen kilometres, on to Ad Pisinas. The bishops styled Rusticianensis, one at the gathering of bishops at Carthage in 411 and another listed among the bishops of Numidia in 484, may belong here. Older research placed the station at Bir bu Hauch.
