Manliana on the road from Siena to Chiusi, probably at Poggio a Magliano near Torrita di Siena, has a namesake on the coast near Populonia, and both took their names from the estates of a man called Manlius. This one even appears in the geographer Ptolemy, which suggests that he drew on a road list for this region. Baths, a cemetery and traces of a villa have been found at the site.
