Near Acquaviva, at the foot of the hill of Montepulciano in Tuscany, lay the station Ad Novas on the Via Cassia; the hilltop town, once taken for it, has yielded no Roman remains, while a villa, baths and graves have been found in the plain below. Its name, at the new ones, refers to new buildings, probably inns. The map's twenty-four Roman miles to Arezzo are too few; thirty-four, about fifty kilometres, would fit.
