Ad Navalia

Varazze [2 · 3 · 4] · Cogoleto? [Pleiades · 4]

Ad Navalia lay on the Ligurian coast at Varazze, or perhaps at Cogoleto. Its name means At the Shipyards, and at Varazze boats were still being built in modern times. Apart from the map, only the list of places compiled in Ravenna knows the station, as Nabalia, so the entry probably belongs to a late stage of the map. On the map the name is split in two by the river Labonia, which had evidently been drawn first.
