Road station
Ad Novas
Osteria Nuova [Pleiades]
Listen to the story
Next to the river Farfar on the map stands Ad Novas, the station at Osteria Nuova near the springs of the Farfa in Sabine country, on the Via Salaria. Its name, at the new ones, points to new inns; a Roman register of routes calls it the new village, Vico Novo, and it belonged to the town of Trebula. The distance to Eretum is oddly written as an X followed by five single strokes, fifteen Roman miles, about twenty-two kilometres.
