Road station
Fines Cilicie
Kiliseler unterhalb von Tahir, ca. 10 km südsüdwestl. von Beypazarı
Sykeon, the home of Saint Theodore, who lived here from about 540 to 613, stood at this station on the Pilgrims' Road, a village with an inn on the imperial highway beside the river Siberis, the ancient Hieros. That river had marked the frontier between Bithynia and Galatia before Diocletian, and its floods made the crossing dangerous until Justinian built a solid bridge and dam. The map labels the station Fines Cilicie, the border of Cilicia, surely a slip for the border of Galatia. At Kiliseler, the churches, excavations have found a late Roman settlement with early Byzantine churches.
