Fixtuinum
Meaux
Fixtvinvm is the map's name for Iatinum, today Meaux on the Marne in France, the chief town of the Meldi. The Greek geographer Ptolemy calls it Iatinon, which is probably closer to the truth than the map's garbled form. Caesar had ships built among the Meldi for his expedition to Britain. In 1993 a theatre was discovered here, promised to his fellow citizens by a Gaulish priest of Augustus named Orgetorix and built by his sons.
