Lagania
Dikmen Hüyük bei Beypazarı
Lagania, the Laganeia of Ptolemy, later took the name Anastasiupolis, probably after the emperor Anastasius, who reigned from 491 to 518. It was a station on the Pilgrims' Road in Galatia and from 451 a bishop's seat under Ancyra; Saint Theodore of Sykeon served briefly as its bishop and made enemies by giving too freely to the poor. The site is the mound of Dikmen Hüyük near Beypazarı, with pottery from prehistory to Byzantine times. The map's thirty-eight miles to Mizago are far too many; the real distance is about twenty.
