Laciacis lay near Frankenmarkt, or perhaps Vöcklamarkt, in the lake country of Upper Austria, and its name has been taken as a pointer to the lakes nearby, the Attersee among them. Two milestones found in the area count from Iuvavum, now Salzburg, one thirty-one Roman miles, about forty-six kilometres, the other forty. A modern atlas even swaps the positions of Laciacis and its neighbour Tarnantone.
