Road station
Iuncaria
Figueras
Iuncaria lay on the road down from the Pyrenees to Girona, in a plain the Greek geographer Strabo calls Iuncarium, the field of rushes, which belonged to the Greek city of Emporion. By its name it matches La Jonquera, but by its position it fits Figueres better, and older research suggested that the place was later renamed Ficariae after its fig gardens, which would explain the modern name. The Greek geographer Ptolemy assigns it to the Indigetes. The map gives fifteen miles from the station before it and twelve on to Declana.
